In Italia è sempre attuale il tema della crescita delle imprese. Il sistema imprenditoriale lombardo è caratterizzato infatti dalla presenza e dalla diffusione di piccole e micro-imprese. Per alcuni osservatori la piccola dimensione delle imprese realmente è all'origine della perdita della competitività di sistema produttivo italiano. A tale fine sono stati avanzate recentemente delle proposte a favore della crescita e l'aggregazione di imprese. In questa ricerca, il tema dell'aggregazione di impresa è esplorato su un campione di imprese della Lombardia. Il problema della crescita dimensionale delle imprese è percepito in modo diverso nei vari paesi europei. Questo rapporto analizza le politiche nazionali e regionali specificatamente orientate a tal fine o in qualche modo assimilabili. L’analisi ha riguardato i quattro maggiori paesi europei (Francia, Germania, Regno Unito e Spagna) e le regioni che per sviluppo industriale e struttura economica si avvicinano maggiormente alla Lombardia: Rhône-Alpes, Nord-Rhein-Westphalen, Sachsen, Galles, Cataluña

In Italy it is always actual the theme of the growth of the enterprises. Lombardy entrepreneurial system is characterized in fact from the presence and from the diffusion of the small and micro enterprises. For some observatories really the small dimension of the enterprises is to the origin of the loss of competitiveness of Italian productive system. To such end recently they have been advanced some proposals to favour the growth and the aggregation of enterprises. In this paper, the theme of the aggregation of enterprise is explored on a sample of Lombardy enterprises. Yet the problem of the size growth of the firms is perceived in various ways in the European countries. The last part of this report analyses the national and regional policies oriented to such aim for the four most important European countries (France, Germany, United Kingdom and Spain). The work has besides analyzed the policies of some regions that for industrial development and economic structure are similar to Lombardy as Rhône-Alpes, North-Rhein-Westphalen, Sachsen, Wales, Cataluña.
